Design of Integrated Error Compensating System for the Portable Flexible CMMs

The ideal mathematical modle and error model of a 6-DOF portable flexible coordinate measuring machine (CMM) was established. A parameter data acquisition system for the portable flexible CMM was designed in this paper, which consisted angle sensors, temperature sensors, strain transducers and microcontroller, they were set in each joint and arm. The microcontroller was used to deal with the sensors’ data and send them to PC. The compensation dosages are feedbacked to the measuring program to keep these errors compensated continually. The error compensation program was developed by LabVIEW , was used to realize the work of communication with microcontroller and data processing. It shows that the integrated error compensation system can work well.
